Magnesium & Vitamin D: The Synergistic Effect
We believe in Magnesium. We believe in Vitamin D. The rationale for their inclusion into our product comes from data, and is summarized under the EDUCATION section of our website.
What is interesting to note more recently, is that there is evolving evidence to suggest that: adding Magnesium to Vitamin D has demonstrated an enhancement of vitamin D status and metabolism, particularly in individuals with suboptimal baseline vitamin D levels.
Magnesium acts as a cofactor for enzymes involved in vitamin D synthesis, transport, and activation. The data shows that supplementation with magnesium can increase serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations more effectively than vitamin D alone, especially in populations with magnesium deficiency or those who are overweight. In addition to the above, randomized controlled trials have also shown that magnesium supplementation alongside vitamin D may also improve muscle strength and function in vitamin D-deficient individuals. [1][2][3]
Observational data further supports the idea that higher magnesium intake is associated with reduced risk of vitamin D deficiency and may modify the relationship between vitamin D status and outcomes such as cardiovascular mortality. [6][7]

Based on the evidence, we conclude that magnesium supplementation enhances the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation. This synergy of the two ingredients has shown improvement in measured vitamin D concentration, and even the possibility of functional outcomes like “improved muscle strength and function.”
Although larger RCT’s would better help identify clinical or functional outcomes… the combination of these ingredients in a daily hydration drink is safe and supported by the current data.
